ARTIST’S STATEMENT

“Israeli Soldiers” is the first series of paintings I created after the October 7th attack on Israel by Hamas. While I’m an American, as a Jew with relatives in Israel, this is a personal subject for me. I was hesitant about painting these because what’s personal to me is political to others. A lot is layered into these works, and as usual I can’t or won’t articulate much in this text. But I can say I wanted them to convey a little confidence and a little humility. Viewers are invited to consider these paintings on their own terms.
